The orchestra rehearsal this week will be woodwind, brass and percussion only. It will be in the Recital Room, upstairs in the Music School on Friday after school. Strings are not required this week.

Rowing
At the weekend over 80 boys took part in the South Island Secondary Schools' Rowing Championships at Lake Ruataniwha. The squad put together some solid results.
The U15 eight finished a close third to Marlborough and Christchurch Boys’ High while the four was fourth.
The U16 four of Wing, Earl, Luxton, Lawrence and Bosworth held off a fast finishing field to claim Gold. They then teamed up with Brand, Heap, Russell and Carey to produce a very impressive row in taking the eights final by two lengths from St Andrew's.
The U17 eight held off St Bede’s by a length to take Gold.
Ballantyne, Clemence, Acland and Wilding followed up the win in the eight with another win in the four.
The U18 four of Armstrong, McKenzie, Robertshawe, Clifford and Grant beat St Thomas' for the first time this year to take a win, while in the last race of the day the eight held off Christchurch Boys' High to claim the sixth Gold of the regatta.
PRESENTATION BY:
Christchurch City Council and the Crash Bash team presented the play ‘Requiem in a Bottle’, a stage play with a strong message against drink driving, with a particular focus on alcohol limits for young drivers.

Cycling
Will Bowman has been selected for the NZ Track National Development Squad and is training for the World Championships to be held in Italy in August.
Both Will and George Tutton competed at the National Track Cycling Champs in Invercargill. Will won a silver medal in the team pursuit and finished fourth in the individual Pursuit Final. George finished a very creditable sixth place in the 10km points race.
Gillete Cup Cricket
College progressed to the finals of the Regional phase of the Gillete Cup beating Burnside 1st XI convincingly. College scored 311 for 4 with Tim Murgatroyd 140, Jack Harper 87 and Daniel Sharples 50. Burnside were bundled out for just 138 with Will Utley and Hamish Robertson picking up two wickets each.
Christchurch Boys' High School Exchange
The 1st XI played out an exciting draw that could have gone either way late on day two.
The 2nd XI were beaten outright and the tennis team were beaten but played some exciting tennis against the top schoolboy team in the South Island.
Swimming
College had four boys represented at the National Age Group Swimming Championships.
William Hurst won Bronze in the 15 years 100 metre freestyle
Patrick Wynne won Gold in the 15 years and under Club Medley and freestyle relays and Bronze in the 15 and under Regional Medley relay.
Charles Porter won bronze medals in the 16 and over Club relay, the 16 and over Regional freestyle relay and the Medley relay.
All three swam in a number of other individual finals along with Brendan Chin who made two finals.
Cricket
The 1st XI drew with St Andrew's College. Hamish Robertson was the most successful bowler on day two with 2/28.
The 2nd XI drew with CBHS 2nd XI - Sachin Tandon (54) and Edward Close (40) both performed well.
The Colts had a seven wicket win over CBHS Black.
The Year 10 section 1s beat Shirley Boys' High School. Jono Hartland (51) and Jack McFarlane 4-25.
The Year 10 section 2 Black team beat Hornby. Harry Bell picked up 3-23.
The Year 9 section 2s beat the North West Blues.
Athletics
The Athletics Canterbury Track and Field Championships were held at QEII over the weekend. The College athletes performed very well with many achieving personal bests on the day.
Top three results were recorded by:
Uddaka Wijesinghe who was second in the Men's 19 800m.
Isaac McCluskey was second in the Men's 19 Hammer.
Forbes Leckie was third in the Men's 19 Javelin.
Both David Elliott and Sam Gilchrist qualified for the Men's 16 200m final
David placed second and Sam sixth.
Simon Early was second in the Men's 16 Hammer.
Angus McKellar was second in the Men's 16 Javelin and Henry Benton was third.
AMI Rugby 10s
The 10s team had a 17-7 win over Shirley BHS. Tries for College were scored by Callum Cruickshank and Jimmy Wright, and Marty McKenzie kicked two conversions and a penalty.
Volleyball
The Senior C team had a 2-1 win over Hagley.
Tennis
Wins were recorded by our A2s, B1s, B3s, B4s, B7s J1s and J3s.
Our Year 9s had a great week recording four wins and a draw.
