Guy Archibald won two awards at the Athletics Canterbury Awards Dinner last Friday evening. He picked up the Overall Thrower of the Year and also the Arthur Grayburn Memorial Cup for the Most Outstanding Javelin Thrower of the Year
This is without question an outstanding achievement by one of our school's leading athletes.
Hockey
The Hockey 1st and 2nd XIs had a busy weekend, each playing 2 games. The 1st XI played University and won a very close match 3-2. Tim Instone scored 2 goals and Tim Manson 1.
In the second match the 1st XI and 2nd XI played each other. Brother was pitted against brother, mate against mate. The final score of 7-0 to the 1st XI did not reflect the intensity of a great game. For the 1st XI, goals were scored by Tom Mouldey (3). George Harper, Jack Harper, Tom Perwick and Alex Rowland Jones. The 2nd XI boys can be extremely proud of their efforts.
The 2nd XI's game earlier in the day saw them go down 8 - 1 against the top of the table Hornby team.
In other games, Christ's College Colts started their season with a 2-2 draw against Harewood. Both goals were scored by Callum Haines.
Christ's College Black had a tough game against a stronger and older Hornby side going down by 9-2.
Christ's College White lost to Selwyn 5-0. The highlight of the game being the incredible defence in goal by Sam Kidner.
