Advanced Learning

At Christ’s College, we provide a strong, rounded education for all of our students. Within that context, we also provide our most able students with opportunities that both challenge and support them in aspiring towards personal excellence.

We use the term Advanced Learning, because our emphasis is on providing open-ended opportunities that extend and enrich the education that all Christ's College students receive.

Our key strategies for supporting the most able are:

Individual Support
We identify exceptionally able students and support them in developing their intellectual, cultural, social and/or sporting aptitudes. A key component is supporting the students to become independent and self-sufficient learners.

Academic Advanced Learning
Through developing highly skilled teachers we identify and promote opportunities for able students to develop deeper knowledge in their strongest academic subjects.

Educational Enrichment
We provide opportunities for able students to learn, think and pursue their interests across and beyond the curriculum. Examples of these include MUN (Model United Nations - at both a local, national and international level), Global Net National Summit, computer programming courses and competitions, inter-school chess competition, debating, creative writing workshops and competitions, public speaking competitions, philosophy lectures, international science schools, mathematics olympiads, university courses, and participation in inter-school academic competitions such as “CANTAMaths” at a local, national and international level.
