Christ's College Parents' Association

Liz Gould, Nadine Conway and Anne Howarth

The former ‘Friends and Parents’ has been divided into  ‘Cornerstones’ for parents and friends of former pupils and  ‘Parents’ Association’  for those of us with boys currently at school.

This logical division will make it easier to tailor events to suit each group and, in our case, provide opportunities to make all parents, especially new ones, feel very much a welcome part of the school.

The Parents’ Association is a voluntary group that is not involved with fundraising,  but simply hopes to inform new parents on the general activities happening in the school and encourage attendance at some of the functions the school has to offer.

Our first initiative, 'The Pink Lunch' came from Headmaster Simon Leese, who saw a very successful 'Pink Dinner' at an Australian boarding school and wanted to highlight and celebrate the important role of Mothers at Christ’s College. In such a ‘male’ environment it is nice to remember that, after all, without us there wouldn’t be any boys!

We have a very enthusiastic group of people together already and welcome anyone else who would care to come along to a meeting and find out what’s coming up and how you can get involved.

So often once our children are at secondary school the opportunities to be part of their school are more limited and this is a really good way to keep in touch with what’s happening at College.

I promise you there is no pressure to join a committee and absolutely no need to bake a cake!

Contact me at nadinecb@xtra.co.nz or 3561016 to find out when the next get-together is. Come along, have a glass of wine and hear about the events that are coming up.

Look forward to seeing you soon.

Nadine
